It was getting dark on the 31st of October 1917 and the 4th light horse and the 12th light horse needed to go into attack. They planned to hit beersheba with a charge raiding their city, taking the water and gaining control over that area. This will be a huge advancement for the light horse. It was around 5pm when the leading officers launched their charge. As they were charging towards the town of Beersheba, Harold Thomas Wickham was shot in the leg with a machine gun, he was in severe pain and was received by the medical officers to safety. The next day the light horse regiments won the battle however at the cost of many lives =, one being a 16 year old Harold. He sadly passed away on the 1/11/17 from gunshot wounds to the leg which fractured his leg. He was buried by Chaplain Dunbar the next day and was the youngest to buried in Beersheba.
